Manufacturer: Scammell China
User: Berkeley-Carteret Hotel
Date: 1935 - 1954
Notes: This eight-story, 400-room hotel opened July 1, 1925 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was closed during WWII and used by the British Navy.

The hotel was renovated in the early 1950s and a pool and Cabana Club were added. It was closed for most of the 1980s, changed ownership several times, and in 1985 had a $20 million renovation.

The Berkeley-Carteret Hotel underwent another major renovation circa 2007 and reopened for business with 250 rooms. It is now known as the The Berkeley Ocean Front Hotel, a vestige of Asbury Park's heyday as an oceanfront resort. Click here for more information about this resort.
