Book Cadillac Hotel 4

Manufacturer: Fraunfelter China
User: Book Cadillac Hotel
Distributor: Albert Pick & Company
Date: 1924
Notes: Completed in 1924 by brothers J.B., Frank and Herbert Book, this 33-story hotel was the tallest building in Detroit, Michigan and also the tallest hotel in the world at that time. Originally built at a cost of $14 million, the Book Cadillac Hotel with 1,200 rooms was opulence at its finest. The hotel had several owners over the years, but it closed in 1984 and the contents were liquidated in 1986. The hotel sat vacant for the next 20 years, suffering from neglect and vandalism.

In June 2006, the Cleveland-based Ferchill Group began the $180 million renovation project to restore the hotel as The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit (a Westin Hotel & Residences). Click here to read more about the completion of this historic hotel renovation and the Book Cadillac's grand reopening in October 2008.

White body with a pink & green floral & scale border, gold trim and the hotel logo of a crown and shield with birds / ducks on both sides of the center of the matchstand. Pattern identified in the Larry Paul Hotel Database.
