Blackstone Hotel

Manufacturer: Syracuse China
User: Blackstone Hotel
Date of bowl: November 1936
Notes: Located at 636 South Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, this 21-story, 450-room grand hotel opened its doors in 1910. It was named after Timothy Blackstone, President of the Illinois Central Railroad, who built the hotel mainly to serve passengers of his trains. It was very early on a part of the Drake Hotel Co. and Kirkeby Hotels. The hotel was closed in 1999 due to code violations and was to be restored as luxury condos, but that plan never got off the ground. In December 2004, the hotel was sold again and became The Blackstone, A Renaissance Hotel with 332 guest rooms and four stately suites.
