Southern Pacific Lines

Manufacturer: Buffalo China (various others noted below)
User: Southern Pacific Lines / Southern Pacific Company
Pattern: Sunset
Date: late 1920s - circa 1930s
Notes: Southern Pacific Lines/Sunset pattern identified by railroad china authors Richard Luckin and Doug McIntyre in their respective reference books, Dining on Rails and The Official Guide: Railroad Dining Car China as being produced by different manufacturers with some color variations. Known manufacturers include Buffalo, Bauscher, Iroquois, Maddock, Scammell, Shenango and Syracuse China. The Bauscher Brother's pattern design was more detailed and slightly different from the pieces shown below. Both noted authors indicate that these pieces are sometimes backstamped, as is the case with this platter.
