Notes: Founded by cowboy Bill Johnson, the original Big Apple restaurant on Van Buren Street in Phoenix, Arizona was a venue where he performed nightly broadcasts for his patrons. Considered a "True Arizona Original," Bill Johnson was more than just a restaurant entrepreneur, he was a popular radio personality, as well as an actor, pilot, stuntman, hypnotist and inventor.

In 2009, there are six Bill Johnson's Big Apple Restaurants located throughout Arizona and the restaurant chain continues under the Johnson family management, as it has for four family generations. Click here to learn more about this restaurant.
